Job Description Summary

CLEAResult is seeking an Energy Engineer II or III to join the Core Engineering team in Vancouver, BC (Burnaby) or Calgary, AB. Core Engineering provides the companywide engineering department with tools and calculators, resources, trainings, program start up support, and QA/QC standards needed to achieve performance goals that consistently deliver high quality work. With a particular focus on western Canada and western United States operations, the successful candidate will work closely with engineers, program managers, and directors across the company to provide the best services possible to our clients.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new energy efficiency measures including the determination of applicable baseline(s), required minimum efficiency improvement(s), and engineering savings methodologies
  • Develop savings calculators that comply with approved engineering methodologies and company format and usability standards
  • Ensure QA/QC plans are followed companywide and support continuous development of field engineering and inspection protocols
  • Develop savings calculations within CLEAResult tracking tools with program and technology teams
  • Understand applicable building codes and regulatory equipment standards and how they impact energy efficiency program planning
  • Support program teams and engineers companywide during annual savings source updates to ensure proper engineering approaches (e.g. Technical Resource Manuals, Regulatory Databases)
  • Support proposal development including the determination of energy efficient measures, applicable savings, measures lives, and incremental costs
  • Regularly communicate technical data to non-technical clients internally and externally
  • Support program teams and engineers companywide to review and provide feedback on third party utility program evaluation plans and reports
  • Deliver training to large engineering teams (50+ attendees)
  • Do no harm and don’t defy the laws of physics!


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering; Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial or Process Engineering
  • Registered (or eligible to register) with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) as an EIT or PEng
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in energy consulting, energy services, or utility energy efficiency programs
  • Extensive knowledge of energy-efficiency technologies, programs, and policies
  • Experience and knowledge of electrical energy conservation measures in industrial manufacturing or building systems.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to remain organized while handling multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of management, colleagues and external contacts.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, particularly spreadsheet, word processing, Outlook and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of VBA is an asset
  • CEM certification preferred
  • Experience using the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocols (IPMVP) for custom projects preferred
  • Periodic travel will be required
