Job Description Summary

Bring residential, industrial and commercial building expertise to a range of our clients. Engineering management’s primary responsibilities will be to ensure the region achieves performance goals, develop strategies to improve our services, consistently delivers high quality work on time and within budget, and provides professional growth opportunities for engineers. Engineering management will work closely with regional program managers and directors to provide the best services possible to our clients. Leading the engineering team and working with engineering leaders to collaboratively share resources, develop tools, and strategies to overcome common challenges.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • - Manage client relationships, both internally and externally
  • - Act as direct manager for a team of energy engineers and energy analysts, including:

   ▪ Oversee the performance of the engineering team and ensure the team achieves both team and company performance objectives

   ▪ Provide strategic guidance and prioritization of work to ensure work is effectively supporting the goals of the assigned utility programs.

   ▪ Provide opportunities for engineers to grow professionally

   ▪ Assure that engineering analysis is performed to the company’s standard of quality and certainty to achieve a high level of client satisfaction

   ▪ Lead critical conversations with staff

  • Implement resource planning in conjunction with program managers and regional director(s)
  • Manage team projects and establish project scopes (deliverables, timeline, cost); basic understanding of contractual agreements
  • Provide performance reports to program directors and consult on potential improvements to improve team and program performance
  • Provide technical knowledge to explain complex energy issues to internal and external parties including customers and trade allies
  • Develop strategies to achieve organizational goals; understand organization's strengths and weaknesses; analyze market and competition; identify external threats and opportunities; adapt strategy to changing conditions
  • Synthesize complex or diverse information; collect and research data; use intuition and experience to complement data; design work-flows and procedures

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of technical experience related to energy engineering or utility energy efficiency programs 
  • 2+ years people management
  • Engineering Degree (P.E. License and CEM preferred, but not required)
  • Extensive knowledge of energy-efficiency technologies, programs, and policies
  • Strong technical expertise in energy savings measures and utility programs
  • Understand applicable building codes and federal equipment standards
  • Strong technical expertise in measurement and verification of energy-efficiency measures with good knowledge of IPMVP
  • Strong understanding of data analytics
  • Effective writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations and demonstrate good presentation skills for both small and large audiences
  • Clear, concise, and informative writing style, ability to vary technical content to meet the needs of end users and present numerical data effectively
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including strong skills in Word and Excel
