Job Description Summary

CLEAResult is seeking a senior leader to oversee our business operations in California and Hawaii. The Client Portfolio Group Lead will report to the Senior Vice President of Western Operations. CLEAResult has been a significant force in the California market since the inception of statewide and third-party demand-side programs in the early 2000s and is on track for substantial growth in the coming decade.
The Client Portfolio Group Lead will be responsible for value creation, business operations, and people development for a portfolio made up of a set of utility and end-user client accounts and engagements.
Responsibilities will include strategy and execution within the client portfolio taking into account market, legislative, regulatory, and competitive dynamics; development and leadership of a functionally and geographically diverse team to achieve program delivery performance; ownership and delivery of a $MM P&L; and the capture, development, and articulation of program management and delivery best practices. The successful candidate will be skilled in both the creation and execution of strategy in a matrixed environment, and in the development of people to achieve short and long-term results.
This high-profile leadership role is at the center of diversification and expansion for CLEAResult and a major contributor to the company’s core service delivery and strategy.

Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Value Creator:
    • Achieving established business growth targets for the client portfolio
    • Ensuring successful delivery of client goals and objectives to support extension and expansion of client contracts
    • Building client buyer and influencer mid-and-senior level relationships in support of delivering established growth targets
    • Educating clients on the full set of CLEAResult services and offerings
    • Engaging Service Line Offering and Business Development leaders in business and market development activities
    • Coordinating networks of stakeholders relevant to clients and CLEAResult interests to drive positions and emerging opportunities in California’s energy ecosystem
    • Representing CLEAResult in multiple public forums including legislative, regulatory, stakeholder forums, and conferences
    • Contributing to CLEAResult thought leadership position and internal strategic initiatives
  • Business Operator:
    • Ensuring client teams deliver operational metrics including: program KPIs, invoicing and accounts receivable tracking, resource utilization, and internal compliance and controls
    • Building and development of annual budgets.
    • Forecasting monthly and quarterly P&L. Leading management reporting activities.
    • Building client engagement delivery teams against targets and utilization metrics
    • Managing and planning for resources of delivery teams across client engagements
    • Ensuring client engagements meet or exceed contractual and internal economics while managing associated risks
    • Achieving target client satisfaction scores
    • Ensuring operational teams align in support of client account plans
    • Sponsoring the implementation of corporate initiatives focused on continuous improvement
    • Collaborating with support functions to deliver contractual obligations
    • Collaborating with other Client Portfolio Leads to help achieve CLEAResult objectives
  • People Developer:
    • Leading a cross-functional team of 75-100 staff.
    • Managing experienced direct reports, including but not limited to hiring of staff, directing work, developing growth and development plans, and leading performance evaluation and merit processes.
    • Ensuring proper execution of performance and program management best-practices
    • Retaining and developing high performing talent
    • Achieving targeted employee engagement scores
    • Championing culture and engagement events
    • Modeling best management practices including regular 1x1s, team meetings, reward and recognition of performance  
    • Upholding CLEAResult Cultural Ideals and Leadership Competencies

Additional Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree and 15 years’ experience managing and leading energy efficiency programs
  • Advanced degree in business management, environmental policy, or energy management is preferred
  • 15 years of leading innovative programs to bring products and services to market across a cross-functional team while meeting aggressive growth targets
  • Knowledge of the CA specific EE/DSM market is a requirement
  • Familiarity with and preferred direct experience in CA regulatory proceedings
  • Experience in designing go-to-market strategies, launching, monitoring and evolving strategies to successfully deliver program results
  • Expertise in energy efficiency, with a track record of outstanding business development
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, build and maintain C-Suite client relationships
  • Experience managing P&L and/or departmental budgets is required
  • Successful management of cross-functional and matrix-managed teams is essential
  • Adept at identifying and developing talent as well as responding to people challenges with managerial courage and respect
  • Curiosity, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills combined with tactical implementation capabilities
  • Expert negotiating skills
  • Represent CLEAResult with the highest level of integrity
