Job Description Summary

This personnel management position will lead a talented team of energy efficiency engineers in Alberta and will be based in Edmonton. The Engineering Manager’s primary responsibilities will be to ensure that a technical team of engineers provide program specific support in delivering program related goals for the Canada East region of CLEAResult. Essential analytic support will be required in order to achieve performance goals, develop strategies to improve our services, consistently deliver high quality work on time and within budget, and provide professional growth opportunities for engineers. The Engineering Manager will work closely with regional program managers and directors to provide the best services possible to our clients. This position will also be asked to assist and train junior engineers on project tasks, quality control, field audits, calculations, and measurement and verification while maintaining quality control standards. You will have a role in working with Canadian and US based National Engineering teams to deliver more complex projects and concepts across the companies portfolio of services. A strong background in Energy Efficiency and/or Green House Gas accounting and reductions is required.

Job Description

 The Engineering Manager will be a leader in the North American engineering team and will work with other engineering leaders to share resources and develop tools and strategies to overcome common challenges. This position offers high potential for upward mobility as your team becomes high functioning and able to provide specialized support across CLEAResult.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BSME, BSEE, BSChE, or related preferred)
  • 4+ years of related professional experience in energy engineering consulting, energy services, or utility energy efficiency programs
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM)/Greenhouse Gas Verifier (GHG-V) or equivalent certification is strongly preferred
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license is strongly preferred
  • Experienced project leadership with engineers or other technical staff
  • Experience leading project teams and demonstrated history of successful completed projects
  • Experience working with utility providers, systems operators, and/or provincial agencies.
  • Support proposals including staffing plans and budget development
  • Understand IPMVP for custom projects; strong technical expertise in measurement and verification of energy-efficiency measures 
  • Strong understanding of data analytics
  • Strong technical expertise in energy savings measures and/or green house gas reduction methods and application in utility/provincial programs
  • Extensive knowledge of energy-efficiency (EE) technologies, green house gas (GHG) reduction strategies, EE/GHG programs, and policies
  • Background in industrial sectors such as wood products manufacturing or petroleum production preferred but not required.
  • Understand applicable building codes and federal equipment standards
  • Able to develop processes and templates to ensure teams create work efficiently and provides additional value to CLEAResult’s clients
  • Use of effective writing and verbal skills to communicate with program teams and participants
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listen and gets clarification; respond well to questions and feedback; demonstrate group presentation skills; participate in meetings
  • Write clearly and informatively; edit work for spelling and grammar; vary writing style to meet needs; present numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including strong skills in Excel
  • Professional demeanor and ability to work independently without direct supervision
  • The successful candidate will be self-motivated and able to prioritize, multi-task, and work under strict guidelines
