Job Description Summary

The Information Security Engineer is responsible for planning and implementing security measures to protect computer systems, networks and data. Information security analysts are expected to stay up-to-date on the latest intelligence, including hackers' methodologies to anticipate security breaches.

Job Description

  • Plan, implement, and upgrade security measures and controls to protect digital files and information systems from unauthorized access, modification or destruction
  • Conduct internal and external security assessments
  • Manage network intrusion detection and data loss prevention
  • Analyze security breaches to determine their root cause
  • Research and recommend appropriate tools and countermeasures to ensure conformance to applicable policies and controls
  • Develop and deliver security awareness training
  • Coordinate security plans with internal teams and outside vendors
  • Implement and test, disaster recovery plans
  • Perform risk assessments and testing of data processing systems for conformance to applicable security policies and controls
  • Research and recommend security enhancements and purchases
  • Conduct staff training on network and information security procedures
  • Align standards, frameworks and security with overall business and technology strategy
  • Identify and communicate current and emerging security threats  
  • Create solutions that balance business requirements with information and cyber security requirements
  • Identify security design gaps in existing and proposed architectures and recommend changes or enhancements
  • Develop strategies to respond to and recover from security incidents
  • Implement tools to assist in detection, prevention and analysis of security threats
  • Lead incident response, including steps to minimize the impact and then conducting a technical and forensic investigation into how the incident happened and the extent of the damage

Additional Job Description

  • 3-5+ years of  applicable IT experience
  • Minimum education requirements - High School diploma or GED required
