Job Description Summary

This hands-on “player/coach” position combines program management with technical sales and excellent customer service to establish and grow a utility program that reduces energy consumption in New York small and medium businesses. This position can be based in either CLEAResult’s Albany office or from a New York home office in the Syracuse, Rochester or Buffalo area.

Job Description

In this entrepreneurial role, the Program Manager will direct the growth of a new utility program to save energy at small and medium businesses through fully financed energy efficiency retrofits.  This role has a mix of field and office responsibilities, including sales, staff and partner oversight, budget management, internal reporting, and client relations.  The individual will perform the following activities: 

•   Be primary point of contact with utility client regarding program performance

•   Manage program to meet program KPIs

•   Recruit and qualify small and medium business owners and affiliated decision makers to participate in the program by prospecting and by following up on warm leads

•   Work with qualified leads to develop and secure commitments to complete energy efficiency projects

•   Enter and help configure data in a salesforce.com-based system to ensure accurate forecasting, and reporting; interpret data and produce written and data-driven program reports for utility, partner, and CLEAResult stakeholders

•   Manage and/or interact with extended CLEAResult program team, call center staff, field staff, and subcontractors

•   Conduct site surveys of small and medium businesses to qualify them for the program

•   Present energy efficiency projects to customers developed by our program partners, educate customers about the benefits of doing the project, and convert a proposal into a signed agreement to perform work.

•   Effectively represent the utility brand to program participants

•   Determine effective split of delivery responsibilities with other CLEAResult team members as the program evolves.

•            Act as lead to Program Coordinator/Engagement Specialist

Additional Job Description

•   Direct experience in energy management, sales or business development in an energy- or finance-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to influence decisions with small and medium business owners and related decision makers

•   Experience selling energy efficiency retrofit projects to commercial customers, especially small/medium businesses and/or national accounts

•   Experience selling financial products to small or medium sized businesses

•   Experience managing profit and loss for a product or program

•   Experience conducting building walk-throughs and energy audits

•   Experience working with customers

•   Experience working with and supervising teams

•   Experience with salesforce.com preferred

Required Knowledge

•   Knowledge of energy management, building systems (HVAC, lighting, controls, equipment) and business and operational issues

•   Knowledge of utility rebate programs

•   Knowledge of effective sales techniques

•   Knowledge of staff and program management techniques

•   Knowledge of energy efficiency products or financial products

Skills/Abilities

•   Ability to speak to commercial customers regarding business case and operations planning

•   Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to understand customer needs and collaborate with internal and external team players to create a solution to meet client needs

•   Strong motivational, organizational, written and oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

•   Competent with Microsoft business applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)

•   Ability to manage multiple tasks and conflicting priorities
